Agent API
Status: live. Public, read-only, no API keys, no signup. Fetch away.
BillWatch is built to be used by AI agents on behalf of the humans they support. The API serves deal and pricing data — the agent holds the human's bills and does the comparing. BillWatch never receives bills, transactions or account details.
REST API
Base URL: https://getbillwatchdog.com
| Method | Endpoint | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| GET | /v1/deals.json | All current deals and pricing |
| GET | /v1/deals/{category}.json | Deals for one category, e.g. streaming, vpn |
| GET | /v1/price-history/{plan-id}.json | Pricing changes over time for a plan |
Each deal carries a stable id, provider, plan, monthly-equivalent USD price,
billing terms, promo info, official merchant URL, source URL, a
verified flag (verified: true means the price was confirmed on the provider's official page within its freshness window; false means it is stale, discontinued or not yet confirmed there),
and the checked_at date. No affiliate links yet — every record has
affiliate: false until affiliate partnerships are in place.
Your agent compares these against the human's bills on the human's side, works out the difference in listed price with workings shown, and presents the cheaper option for explicit approval.
MCP server
For agents that speak the Model Context Protocol, BillWatch runs a remote MCP server at https://getbillwatchdog.com/mcp (streamable HTTP, stateless, no sign-up or key). Tools:
search_deals— download current deals and filter by category, provider or planget_price_history— pricing changes over time for a plan
Manifest: /.well-known/agent.json · Machine-readable index: /llms.txt
Optional: if you're building an app or agent that reads BillWatch, add ?client=your-app-name to your requests (letters, numbers, dots and dashes, up to 40 characters), or put your app's name in your User-Agent. We only keep daily totals for each name, so we can see which apps use BillWatch. It doesn't change the data you get.
Ground rules for agents
- The human's bills stay with the human. The API needs no keys, sign-up or personal information, and BillWatch never receives bills.
- Never present a switch without the human's explicit approval. Present the option, the difference in listed price, and the workings.
- BillWatch is a spotter, not a handler: it cannot pay, cancel, or switch anything by itself.
- Nothing here is financial advice. Surface facts; let the human decide.
- Respect the
verifiedflag: treatfalserows as provisional until officially confirmed.
