In short

What we collect

BillWatch doesn't ask for your name, email address, bills or account details. There is no sign-up, account or upload on this site.

When you visit, our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. Cloudflare uses it to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Its dashboard shows us traffic totals and, for up to 7 days, samples of individual requests, which can include IP address and browser type. We don't copy or keep them. If a page fails to load, your browser may also send Cloudflare a short error report (Network Error Logging) with the page address, error type and timing, so it can spot network faults. We don't keep records of individual visits. Cloudflare's own privacy policy explains how it handles this data.

Demo counting

When you use the comparison on our demo page, your browser sends us one of two messages:

That is all a message contains. We add each one to running totals and keep only the totals. Like every web request, the message reaches Cloudflare with standard request data, but we don't store that data with the totals.

We use the totals to see whether the demo is useful. If your browser blocks these messages, the demo works the same.

Visitor counts

When someone or something requests a page, the API or one of our agent files (like llms.txt), we add one to a daily total. Totals are grouped by page, rough visitor type and, for bots and tools, the name they give (for example ChatGPT-User or curl). We work the type out from how the visitor's software describes itself (for example "ChatGPT-User", "curl" or an ordinary browser) and whether the request came from one of a few large cloud networks (for example Amazon or Meta). For agents that sign their requests, we record the website they name (for example chatgpt.com). If an app adds ?client=name to a request, we count that name too. We don't store IP addresses, full browser descriptions, cookies or anything else that identifies you.

The API

The API at /v1/deals.json is live, public and read-only. It needs no API key, account or sign-up, and it never asks for bills or personal information.

Requests to the API are handled like any page request: Cloudflare processes standard request data, and we count them as described under "Visitor counts".

Your agent decides what to do with the price data. BillWatch never sees your bills, and it never pays, cancels, switches or contacts providers for you.

Cookies and Do Not Track

BillWatch doesn't set cookies or use advertising technology. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary security measures, which can include a security cookie, to protect the site from automated abuse.

We don't follow you across other websites, so Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals don't change how this site works.

How long we keep things

We keep the demo totals while the demo runs and for up to 12 months after it ends. They are running totals with nothing in them that identifies you, so there is nothing personal for us to give you a copy of, correct or delete. Visitor counts are daily totals and are deleted after 12 months. Cloudflare keeps its request data under its own policy.

What we never do

Not financial advice

BillWatch publishes facts about listed prices. It is general information only, not financial advice.

Who runs BillWatch

BillWatch is run by Adam Bull, a sole trader in New South Wales, Australia. Questions about this policy: hello@getbillwatchdog.com. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply to you.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
